11. Metallic bellows

Metallic bellows is termed “the bellows tubes made of thin metallic materials that expand and contract.”

Such bellows are widely used in semiconductor manufacturing equipment, liquid crystals, vacuum equipment, automobiles, medical equipment, plants in various fields and space development programs as air-tight sealant of fluid that are air-tight, springy and expand and contract.

Being made of metal the bellows endure extreme hardships when used in spacecrafts such as difference in atmospheric pressure and vacuum, extreme low temperature and extremely high pressure. The reliable bellows are also widely used in development of rockets.

Other applications include pipes for fuel, actuators, fuel control valves and other valves. The bellows by manufacturing method may be classified into molded bellows and welded bellows.
